Summary  
Install, configure, and maintain a local area network (LAN), a wide area network (WAN), a data communications network, operating systems, and physical and virtual servers. Perform system monitoring and verify the integrity and availability of hardware, network, and server resources and systems. Review system and application logs and verify the completion of scheduled jobs, including system backups. Install and upgrade software and maintain software licenses. May assist in network modeling, analysis, planning, and coordination between network and data communications hardware and software.

About the Role
You are responsible for identifying, researching, and resolving technical problems. You are expected to respond to telephone calls, emails, and walk-ins for customers’ requests concerning technical support in a timely manner. You are expected to document, track, and monitor the problem to ensure a timely resolution. The position is onsite, in Boulder, Colorado (with the possibility of limited telework). Core hours are 7am – 6pm Monday – Friday.

Essential functions/responsibilities

  • Maintain and administer computer networks and related computing environments, including computer hardware, systems software, applications software, and all configurations in a Linux environment
  • Modifying, maintaining, and running Ansible Playbooks
  • Manage user accounts and access rights to system components using a centralized access Solution
  • Create and maintain Windows 10 /11 image, ensuring hardware compatibility for new computer models
  • Perform data backups and disaster recovery operations
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware, software, or other network and system problems, and replace defective components when necessary
  • Configure, monitor and maintain email applications or virus protection software
  • Operate master consoles to monitor the performance of computer systems and networks to coordinate computer network access and use
  • Maintain and manage meeting spaces, including assurance of functioning teleconference software and equipment, performing room configurations, and providing technical assistance as needed and upon request
  • Provides escalation support for Tier 2 incident resolution and communication to other System Administrators
  • Troubleshoot IT hardware and software issues to include laptops, desktops, tablets, mobile devices, printers, VPN issues
  • Monitor network performance to determine whether adjustments are needed and where changes will be needed in the future
  • Coordinate scheduled downtimes with the customer representative and operations lead, adhering to customer limitations regarding downtime and SLAs; coordinate downtime requests of operational systems with the relevant Engineer, Operations, and the Systems Lead
  • Plan, coordinate, and implement network security measures to protect data, software, and hardware
  • Analyze equipment performance records to determine the need for repair or replacement
  • Confer with network users about solutions to existing system problems
  • Recommend changes to improve systems and network configurations and determine hardware or software requirements related to such changes
  • Design, configure, and test computer hardware, networking software, and operating system software
  • Perform routine network startup and shutdown procedures and maintain control records
  • Maintain logs related to network functions, as well as maintenance and repair records
  • Gather data pertaining to customer needs and use the information to identify, predict, interpret, and evaluate system and network requirements
  • Coordinate with vendors and company personnel to facilitate purchases

Requirements
Must Have
  • Linux experience
  • Knowledge of ticketing system
  • Knowledge of computer imaging
  • Understanding of Network protocols (TCP/IP, DHCP)
  • Familiarity with basic Bash scripting 
  • Excellent customer service skills, both oral and written
  • Exposure to virtualization technologies (RHV, VMWAre or Citrix)
Nice to Have
  • Knowledge of JIRA ticketing system
  • Knowledge of BigFix computer imaging
  • Knowledge of Trellix ePolicy Orchestrator computer imaging
  • ITIL v3 Foundations certification
  • Red Hat Certification(ie: RHCSA, RHCE, LPIC 1-3)
  • Experience with Red Hat Satellite, Ansible Automation Platform
  • Experience with Red Hat Virtualization or Virtualization on Red Hat Openshift
  • Experience with HCL Bigfix and Tenable Nessus
  • CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+

Work environment
  • This work is normally completed on-site with occasional opportunities to telework

Physical Demands
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organizations and client facilities
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds on an occasional basis

Required education and experience
  • At least 1 year of experience performing System administration work
  • 1-3 years of experience for Help Desk Tier II onsite and remote support experience in a medium to large networked environment

Preferred education and experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, or related field or equivalent relevant work experience
  • Entry-level experience managing an enterprise environment with Windows Server 2022/2016/2012 and Windows 11/10

Work authorization/security clearance requirements
  • Ability to obtain a government security clearance

The base salary range for this position is $63,058 to $86,321.

This base salary range represents a general guideline. An individual’s base salary within that range is determined based on a variety of factors, including (without limitation) the scope, complexities, and responsibilities of the position, the government contract to which the position is assigned, geographic location, market conditions, and the candidate’s relevant experience, education, and skills.
