Cloud Systems Engineer III
GAMA-1 Technologies, LLC is seeking a highly experienced Cloud Systems Engineer III to support and enhance infrastructure services for high performance computing use cases run in the cloud. This role requires a combination of cloud expertise, web development skills, and a solid understanding of IT infrastructure.
About the role
In this role you will be responsible for planning and engineering the customer’s cloud computing infrastructure and applications. You will Implement and design server, network, and software configurations for a cloud computing infrastructure and applications with a focus on DevOps principles. You will monitor the performance of systems. You must be familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures of cloud technology, including Software as Service (SaaS), Platform as Service (PaaS), or Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS). The Cloud Solutions Engineer should have web application development experience and will support the design and implementation of best of breed cloud services across several major cloud service providers, including AWS, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), and Microsoft Azure (Azure). This is a technical customer-facing role that will be accountable for the end-to-end customer experience.
The customer specifically requires the Cloud Systems Engineer III to interface within an agile product development team to build out and support high performance computing modeling within the cloud. The engineer will work with multiple internal teams and stakeholders to configure environments, permissions/policy, networking, security and documentation for the customer’s cloud workloads.
Essential functions/responsibilities
- Building, testing, deploying and supporting IT infrastructure in Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure
- Possess a working knowledge of parallel computing in cloud environments. Familiarity with schedulers such as Slurm is a plus
- Responding to requests for service with existing high performance cloud computing use cases that are not functioning as expected and will be expected to troubleshoot and find resolution while conforming to compliance / regulatory / mission requirements and operational constraints
- Maintaining cloud services platforms (AWS and Azure) to include regular system documentation updates and changes based on evolving technology landscapes/capabilities as well as responding to regulatory/policy changes such as the implementation of secure MFA across all services
- Developing solutions using Infrastructure as Code
- methodology (AWS Cloud Formation Templates and Azure ARM Templates) to meet system requirements
- Updating and managing the source code using NOAA approved source control tools (GitHub Enterprise)
- Ensuring that the documentation completes the customer’s change control process, and any feedback provided by the IT Security
- Addressing Enterprise Architect prior to moving solutions into production
- Responsible for building and/or supporting cloud-based applications using and integrating with AWS and/or Azure native tooling
- Responsible for configuring supporting services for HPC services. AWS Cognito Permissions / Azure Intra (Active Directory) Permissions Working with other teams to ensure connectivity, security, compliance etc.
- Leverage Infrastructure as Code (IaC), open source and/or approved NOAA tools and resources
- Due to the agile and changing nature of workload, will be required to perform other cloud development and analysis activities in support of the mission
- This work is normally done in a telework arrangement
- BS/BA degree, Computer Science, Engineering or a related field.
- 6+ years of professional experience
- Web development application experience
- Proven work experience as a Cloud Engineer or similar role
- Azure, AWS, and GCP experience, certifications preferred
- Troubleshooting and analytical skills
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Client management skills to discuss systems as needed
- Relevant training and/or certifications as a Cloud Engineer
- Extensive experience architecting and provisioning enterprise-level Cloud services, including Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), and Software as a Service (SaaS).
- Experience migrating on-premise workloads to the public or hybrid cloud environments and deploying cloud-ready applications.
This position requires the ability to obtain a public trust security clearance.
The base salary range for this position is: $131,100.58 - $184,804.43
This base salary range represents a general guideline. An individual’s base salary within that range is determined based on a variety of factors, including (without limitation) the scope, complexities, and responsibilities of the position, the government contract to which the position is assigned, geographic location, market conditions, and the candidate’s relevant experience, education, and skills.
