GAMA-1 Technologies, LLC seeks a highly skilled System Administrator II with a strong Linux background to provide advanced technical expertise in the design, implementation, configuration, maintenance, and optimization of complex IT systems in an on-site enterprise environment. This role will support mission-critical, multi-platform systems, with primary responsibility for Linux-based infrastructure while also supporting Windows systems as part of an integrated enterprise ecosystem.

Essential Functions / Responsibilities

  • Administer, configure, harden, and optimize Linux operating systems (RHEL, Rocky, Ubuntu, or similar) in compliance with federal IT and security standards.

  • Support and maintain Windows Server environments as part of a mixed OS enterprise infrastructure.

  • Design, implement, and maintain scalable, resilient Linux-based system architectures ensuring high availability, performance, and security.

  • Perform advanced system configuration, patching, monitoring, logging, and performance tuning for Linux servers and services.

  • Participate in system upgrades, migrations, and modernization initiatives, including on-prem to cloud or hybrid deployments.

  • Develop and maintain detailed system documentation, configuration baselines, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

  • Manage backup, recovery, and disaster recovery solutions, including testing and validation.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex system issues across Linux and Windows platforms; perform root cause analysis and implement long-term corrective actions.

  • Collaborate closely with network, cloud, cybersecurity, and application teams to ensure secure, integrated operations.

  • Support security compliance efforts, vulnerability assessments, STIGs, and remediation activities.

  • Develop and maintain automation and configuration management solutions using scripting and tools (Ansible, Bash, PowerShell, Python, etc.).

  • Continuously identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, system reliability, and security posture.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

  • 2–4 years of hands-on system administration experience, with a strong emphasis on Linux environments.

  • Demonstrated experience administering enterprise Linux systems in production or federal environments.

  • Working experience with Windows Server, including Active Directory and Group Policy.

  • Proficiency with:

    • Linux system services, permissions, package management, logging, and troubleshooting

    • Active Directory, DNS, DHCP

    • Virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V)

    • Monitoring and logging tools

  • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and hybrid infrastructure.

  • Strong scripting and automation skills (Bash, Python, PowerShell).

  • Solid understanding of network fundamentals (TCP/IP, routing, VPNs, firewalls).

  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Linux-focused certifications such as:

    • RHCSA / RHCE

    • Linux+

  • Additional certifications such as:

    • CompTIA Security+

    • VMware Certified Professional (VCP)

    • AWS Certified SysOps Administrator

  • Advanced certifications (highly preferred):

    • CISSP, CCSP

    • AWS or Microsoft Solutions Architect

  • Knowledge of ITIL, Agile, or SAFe methodologies.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience documenting and presenting technical solutions.


Work Authorization / Security Clearance

  • Ability to obtain a security clearance is required.


Work Environment

  • Work is performed in an on-site enterprise environment.

    $106,486.00 - $113,981.34
